Expat wanted by US arrested while attempting to sneak into Panama from Costa Rica

Wanted by the United States for several pending charges including terroristic threats and sexual abuse, Sage Million, 61, was arrested in Panama last Wednesday after he tried to illegally cross the border from Costa Rica.

Million was arrested by Panama’s National Borders Service (Senafront) and the National Immigration Office in the province of Chiriquí, at the border with Costa Rica, the daily Panama America reported. After hiding in bushes on the Costa Rican side of the border, Million attempted to cross into Panamanian territory and was taken into custody by Senafront officers.

Panamanian officials discovered Million is wanted by U.S. authorities for charges of terroristic threats and for allegedly assaulting a minor. Hawaiian authorities also have issued an arrest warrant for Million, U.S. Embassy officials in Panama reported, according to Panama America.

Costa Rica’s Immigration Administration confirmed Million entered the country on Jan. 15 and left the next day, but no other records of him entering Costa Rica exist.

Million was sent to judicial authorities in Panama City, SENAFRONT said in a press release.

Correction: A previous version of this story, based on Panamanian news reports, stated that Million is wanted on terrorism and murder charges. He is in fact wanted on terroristic threat charges and for allegedly abusing a minor, not murder. The Tico Times regrets the errors.
