When the walls come tumbling down…

A child on a bicycle passes by the ruins of a house in Nagarote, destroyed in an earthquake. A pair of strong quakes and hundreds of aftershocks hit Nicaragua on Thursday and Friday. The first — a magnitude-6.2 earthquake — killed one person, left 33 injured and damaged more than 800 homes, the government said Friday. The impact caused Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega to declare a state of emergency. The second earthquake registered a magnitude-6.6 but no casualties were reported.
