Community members unite for art in southeast San José

Linda Vista resident Thelma Wilson proudly displays an 80-meter-long ceramic mosaic mural created by members of the community in Patarrá de Desamparados, southeast of San José. Titled “Aquí vivo yo, aquí vivimos todos” (Here I Live, Here We All Live), the mural, inaugurated June 16, is an initiative of the Culture Ministry and UNICEF’s Parque La Libertad project (www.parquelalibertad.org).

Some 100 community members of all ages – children, teens, adults and elderly – worked together for five months on the mural, which includes portraits of community members and graffiti created by Linda Vista youths.
