TEGUCIGALPA (EFE) – Honduransopposed to the U.S.-Central AmericanFree-Trade Agreement (CAFTA) thisweek began the first of a series of protestsagainst the trade pact, following theHonduran Parliament’s ratification of theaccord on March 3.Honduras last week became the secondCentral American nation, after ElSalvador, to ratify CAFTA, which cannow enter into force in those countries assoon as it as ratified by the United States.The Honduran Parliament voted 123-5to ratify CAFTA, touted as a $25 billionfree-trade agreement that will unite theeconomies of the United States andCentral America.
