Two new luxury hotels to open in Costa Rica

The Studio Hotel and the Sol Meliá Paradisus Resort will become the newest hotels to open their doors in Costa Rica.

The Studio Hotel, located in Santa Ana, southwest of San José, is slated for a June opening, and will offer 82 guest rooms, a special events hall for 100 people, restaurant, bar, gym, coffee bar at the lobby and separate meeting room for guests.

“We are focusing on executives and medical tourism,” said Karla González, Studio Hotel’s manager of operations. “We are also working to make it environmentally friendly. ”

With a total investment of $10 million, the hotel was built with solar-powered water heating and air conditioning systems, it will use biodegradable products, and tour providers must be certified in tourism sustainability.

“We know that competition is very strong, but our rooms are larger than average, and they are equipped for all visitors’ needs,” González said. “We’ll also be staffed for emergencies, with a nurse available 24 hours.”

The hotel will also be 100 percent smoke-free.

When finished in 2013, the Paradisus Papagayo Bay, a five-star hotel owned by Spanish hotelier Sol Meliá, will be located on the northern Papagayo Peninsula, in the Pacific province of Guanacaste.

According to www.hospitalitynet.org, the resort will offer 381 rooms, five restaurants and five bars, and bills itself as an upscale “eco-resort.”
