‘Turno Tico’ Celebrated In the United States

The Costa Rican Humanitarian Association of California organized the Costa Rican Festival, called “Turno Tico” by participants, in the city of Garden Grove last month to collect funds for underprivileged children of Costa Rica.

The true flavor of Costa Rica was on display with everything a Tico could desire, from traditional food, drink and dress to máscaras (masked, costumed figures) and dancing. Participants grooved to the sounds of salsa, merengue and other traditional music preformed by musicians and a dance troupe living in the United States.

About 800 people attended the event. With this successful turnout and word of mouth, perhaps next year 1,000 people will attend the Turno Tico.
