Col. Marlon Cubillo, director of Regional #6 in Puntarenas, is fulfilling his promise of sending an additional 12 police officers our way, and the Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce says eight more Tourism Police officers will be sent to our area. This will bring the total number of officers here to almost 60! However, it is up to the private sector to help find appropriate housing to accommodate these officers so they can live in good conditions. If you can help, please contact Harry Bodaan, chairman of the security committee, at harrybodaan@lamansioninn.com.

We also received some more great news from the Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to the regional Ladies Group and Amigos de los Animales, Pet Adoption Days are being held on Saturdays, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Quepos Fire Station. These events are designed to help stray animals find good homes. If you cannot adopt a pet yourself, donations of pet food or money to cover vet costs are welcome. A neuter and spay clinic also will be held at this location on Saturday, Nov. 7. For more information, contact cr.ladies@gmail.com.
