Cell Phone Taken… And Returned for $20

Dear Nica Times:

Last week, whilst enjoying the local bars of Granada, my cell phone was stolen. I had stupidly put it on the bar, turned to speak to someone, and when I turned back it had vanished. I pondered what to do.

A Nicaraguan friend called the number, which was answered by a woman. She explained that she stole the cell phone because she needed money, but was willing to trade the phone for $20.

A meeting was arranged the following day at a local Supermercado, aisle two, just past the plastic tupperware bowls.

The exchange took place – only in Nicaragua.
