Canadian-Costa Rican pianist, Jonathan Duarte, 19, will give a piano concert July 17 at 8 p.m. at the National Theater. A student of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory college in Moscow, Duarte will interpret the works of Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninov and Liszt.

In 2010 and 2011, Duarte received the Manuel Grynspan award in Costa Rica. He has also won eight international competitions and performed in New York, Paris, Rome, Vilnius, Kazan and Moscow.

During the intermission of his concert, this year’s Manuel Grynspan Award will be presented to Universidad Nacional students Inés Guanchez and Carolina Ramírez. The award recognizes achievements of young Costa Rican artists.
