INBio Releases New Book on Glass Frogs

Ranas de Vidrio/Glass Frogs Costa Rica,” the new book by Brian Kubicki, is now on sale through the National Biodiversity Institute’s Editorial INBio.

Kubicki, a self-taught herpetologist from the United States who lives in Costa Rica, has been studying the country’s amphibians since 1998. The book, which is the author’s second for INBio, focuses on the tropical frogs of the Centrolenidae family.

Written in English with Spanish translation provided, “Glass Frogs” is the first thorough study on the country’s glass frogs and includes 180 color photos taken by Kubicki, as well as maps that show the distribution of each of the species. The first part of the book takes a general look at the glass frogs of the Centrolenidae family, and the second part takes an individual look at each of the 13 species of glass frogs in Costa Rica.

The book is priced at ¢8,500 ($16), and can be bought at major bookstores throughout the country or online at www.inbio.ac.cr/editorial.
