Nature Air Announces Flight to Bocas del Toro

RESIDENTS or visitors wanting to leave the country for a quick three days or so will soon have a new travel option: direct flights from San José to the Caribbean archipelago of Bocas del Toro, Panama.NatureAir recently announced it will initiate flights to Bocas del Toro as of Dec. 31. The move comes in response to demand within the tourism industry and from residents, according to Alexi Huntley, sales and marketing director for the airline.“The local (resident) market is becoming more and more of a strong local base for us,” he said. “Our goal is to offer a higher-end travel option for those who don’t want to spend 10 hours on a bus or boat. You want to get away for the weekend, you need something to rely on, and that’s where we come in.”Flights will depart San José at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with the return flight departing Bocas those same days at 2:30 p.m. The flight costs $99.50 and takes one hour and five minutes each way.For information or reservations, call 299-6000 or visit www.natureair.com.
