British Ambassador to Host Remembrance Day Service

British Ambassador to Costa Rica Tom Kennedy will host a Nov. 11 Remembrance Day memorial service, an annual commemoration of the servicemen and women who gave their lives in World War I and II. The day is also called Poppy Day in the United Kingdom, after the millions of poppies that bloomed on the battlefields at the end of World War I. Funds will be collected for veterans and their families who have fought in wars and peacekeeping missions. Representatives from the U.S. and Canadian Embassies and their communities will also be present.

The ceremony will be held at the 5 p.m. Escazú Christian Fellowship service at the InternationalBaptistChurch in the western San José suburb of Escazú, one kilometer west of Multiplaza, on the north side of the highway to Santa Ana. Refreshments will be served afterward.
