A private medical care company is expanding its services in Costa Rica.
Global Care, a multinational corporation that provides private health services to corporate clients, is investing $3.5 million to expand its facilities in San Antonio de Belén de Heredia, north of San José, and be able to offer more complete medical care to its 15,000 members, as well as open its doors to the public.
The new facilities will be 1,500 square meters, include 500 square meters worth of consulting space and outpatient surgery facilities.
The idea, said Medical Director Dr. Juan Carlos Hernández, is to offer inhouse care for the company’s many corporate clients, rather than just reimbursing customers for care received in some of Costa Rica’s other private clinics.
Hernández said this will allow Global Care – and its sister health-care provider, Planinsa S.A. – to cut costs and pass the savings onto their customers.
In addition to its regular clients, the GlobalCareMedicalCenter will open to the general public, and next year, Global Care will begin offering homecare services.
Planinsa came to Costa Rica in 2001, and brought Global Care two years later. Both companies are part of the Planinsa Group, which provides health-care services to more than 500,000 people in Venezuela.
