Foreign Buyers To Meet With Tico Exporters

Hundreds of Costa Rican exporters will meet with foreign buyers over a four-day period in September for the Buyers’ Trade Mission, sponsored by the Foreign Trade Promotion Office (PROCOMER).

The event, to take place Sept. 11-14, will allow 3,000 meetings between providers and buyers. Past events have resulted in as much as $5 million changing hands.

Businesses from eight countries in the European Union will be sending representatives, as will businesses from the Caribbean community, with which Costa Rica has a free-trade agreement.

Also sending representatives will be businesses from Central America, the United States,Mexico, Canada and Haiti. In all, 30 countries will be represented.

A total of 170 buyers will be perusing the goods of 220 Costa Rican exporters, 90% of which will be small- or mediumsized providers, according to a statement from PROCOMER.

The statement noted that more than 1,000 different products will be on the block at the encounter.
