Japanese Fund Several Projects

A Japanese-funded potable-water project serving San Francisco de León Cortés started pumping last month.

The $44,000 project serving 400 residents of the community, near Aserrí, south of San José, was funded through a cooperation program of the Japanese Embassy.

“Since 1989, we’ve had a cooperation program that’s funded 165 projects at a cost of $526 million,” adviser María Tacsan said.
