Gov’t Unveils Big Works Projects in Tilarán

President Oscar Arias and his cabinet last week inaugurated a series of public works projects in Tilarán aimed at improving life and safety in the northwestern community.

Housing Minister Clara Zomer, unveiled Vivienda El Verolís, a project that will provide 75 homes for poor families in the Cañas canton, according to a government press release.

Arias laid the symbolic first stone of the new fire department’s station in Tilarán. The station will be fully outfitted, including three full-time firefighters and a voluntary team of nine.

The Environment, Energy and Telecommunications Ministry signed a quarry law with the president that will allow every municipality to take advantage of its raw materials. The government hopes that the law will facilitate the construction and maintenance of public roads.

Karla González, head of the Public Works and Transport Ministry, announced plans to pave the road that connects the towns of Cañas and Tilarán.
