Private Hospital Planned For Guanacaste Capital

DCA S.A. Real Estate is planning tobuild the northwestern province ofGuanacaste’s first private hospital inLiberia, the provincial capital, just 3 kilometersfrom Daniel Oduber InternationalAirport, according to project developerDiego Cordero-Arrazola.The hospital complex is expected toinclude a medical tower, 72 rooms, a holisticmedicine clinic and a helicopter ambulanceequipped with the latest technology inpatient transfers. Complete with 50 villasand a spa, the complex may resemble aresort more than a health institution when itis completed sometime in 2007.Cordero-Arrazola, who conceived theidea of a private hospital outside of SanJosé in 2003, explained the philosophybehind the project: “The latest trend ofthought in Europe is that the more beautifulthe surroundings, the faster patientsrecover,” he told The Tico Times.Construction of the hospital, to becalled Hospital del Perpetuo Socorro,(Hospital of Perpetual Help) may begin inJanuary 2006 and its first stage – estimatedto cost $80 million – should be completed18 months later.A European consortium is expected tofinance the project, although Cordero-Arrazola declined to name it.
