Bananas, Potatoes Top Tico Shopping Lists

COSTA Ricans consume morebananas and potatoes than any otherfruits or vegetables, according a recentstudy by the Integral Fishing andAgriculture Marketing Program.The study found that the potato isCosta Rica’s favorite fixture, composing12.36% of all 140 fruits and vegetablesregistered and sold by Costa Rica’s principlewholesale market, according to thedaily La Nación. The banana was closebehind, garnering 11.74% of total saleswith the National Food Supply andDistribution Center (Cenada), whichmarkets 60% of the fruits and vegetablesconsumed in Costa Rica.The bronze medallist was the tomato,which represented 10.55% of totalsales.
