The sands of Punta Leona, on the central Pacific coast, will host the elimination rounds of the Beach Soccer World Cup, sponsored by the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Soccer Associations (CONCACAF), according to the confederation’s Web site.
This preliminary tournament between Costa Rica, Jamaica, Canada, the United States and Mexico will be played Sept. 13-17. Two of these countries will go on to play in the Beach Soccer World Cup in Río de Janeiro, Brazil, Nov. 2-12.
The tournament will be played in roundrobin format; the first day will include games between Costa Rica and Jamaica and the United States and Canada.
