Costa Rica’s Women’s National Soccer Team will play against Curaçao and Guatemala for a place in the next round of the World Cup qualifiers. The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is scheduled to be the 9th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The tournament will be held in Australia and New Zealand, during the months of July and August.
The team started the qualifiers in a magnificent way, beating the U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Team 0-6, and with another victory over St. Kitts and Nevis 7-0. This helped them gain confidence and motivated the group for the next matches.
Costa Rica and Guatemala are currently tied for first place, with six points after the first two games. Both matches will be crucial for the Costa Ricans, who need to win to advance to the second round. The winner is the only one that will be playing in July in Monterrey, to define the 4 teams that will travel to Australia and New Zealand.
Amelia Valverde, Costa Rica’s Head Coach, mentioned that she chose carefully the players. Given the circumstances, she needed the experience of those who have been a part of the process.
“This is the team we consider adequate for the double date, these are the players we have been working with and we have been following them in the games. We are entering the final stretch, starting Monday with the complete group,” the coach further explained.
Las Ticas will travel to Curaçao for the match on Saturday, April 9th at 7 pm local time and will host Guatemala on the last day of this first qualifying round on Tuesday, April 12th at 7 pm at the National Stadium.
The tickets for the game against Guatemala in the National Stadium are now available, on the digital platform Specialticket.net at a cost of â‚¡5,000 ($7.59) for the eastern stand that was enabled for the game.
A victory in the match against the Guatemalans could qualify Costa Rica’s Women’s National Soccer Team to fight for a spot in the World Cup in July.
