Airlines Announce Several New Flights

The Central American airline TACA announced it is reopening its direct flight between San José and Havana, Cuba.

The airline will offer flights between the two cities on an A-320 Airbus Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, leaving San José at 10:45 a.m. and arriving to Havana at 2:05 p.m. The return flights to San José will leave Havana at 3:20 p.m. and arrive to San José at 4:40 p.m.

Costa Rica will become the hub for Central America and Mexico for travelers going to the Caribbean island, TACA said in a statement.

TACA decided to open up the direct Havana route to “offer our Central American users, especially Costa Ricans, direct access to one of the most charismatic cities in Latin America,” TACA communications director Claudia Arenas said.

Round-trip flights start around $330, according to www.taca.com.

The Costa Rican airline Nature Air also announced new daily flights from the Caribbean port city of Limón to six destinations around the country.

The flights, which range from $87 to $113, leave Limón at 7 a.m. and go to Pacific destinations Tamarindo, Liberia, Punta Islita, Palmar Sur, Puerto Jiménez and Quepos, according to a Nature Air statement.

All have a stopover in San José. For more information, see www.natureair.com.
