New Health Spa Planned in Bagaces

A large health resort and spa is planned in Bagaces, an inland town in the northwestern province of Guanacaste. To be known as Ailanto Wellness Resort and Spa, the development will eventually feature 300 fractional condos and homes.

If all goes as planned, the $23 million resort would occupy 83 acres of land and consist of  residences, medical centers, a spa, assisted living facilities, shopping and training areas.

The medical facilities will include many varieties of doctors and therapists, from plastic surgeons and aesthetic dentists, to chiropractors and podiatrists. Emphasis will be on the “holistic approach to well-being,” according to a press release.

Much of the living space at the resort will be offered as “fractional” condos and houses, starting at $16,000.While fraction owners will not own a house or condo outright, neither will they be restricted to certain time slots, as with a timeshare, said project spokeswoman Carolina Rojas.

Instead, fraction owners can come and go as they please, though they might be shuffled between the different properties depending on which ones are occupied.

Ground has yet to be broken on the project, but construction is slated for completion by the end of 2009.

The project is being developed by Toque Del Cielo S.A., the Costa Rican sister company of Arizona-based luxury homes developer All American Homes, LLC.
