Tico Businesses Participate In Dominican Trade Fair

Representatives from various Costa Rican companies are participating in a trade show in the Dominican Republic to search for new commercial partners, according to the Foreign Trade Promotion Office (PROCOMER).

Costa Rica’s stand at the fair features the theme “Costa Rica: Quality without Borders,” the statement said. Costa Rican exporters attending the event hope their country will become one of the biggest suppliers to the Dominican Republic.

The exhibit in Santo Domingo, which began Wednesday and ends tomorrow, includes talks between exporters and potential buyers.

The Costa Rican representatives are promoting products such as pastas, heart of palm, crackers, tea, sauces and jams, as well as candy, gum and appliances for hotels, the statement said.

In 2006, Costa Rica exported $141.5 million to the Dominican Republic and imported $20.2 million from this Caribbean nation.
