PSG storms back from two-goal deficit to clinch first place in Champions League group

Keylor Navas and PSG will finish atop Group A of the Champions League following a dramatic come-from-behind result against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Two goals in as many minutes erased the deficit as PSG earned a 2-2 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid.

The result guarantees PSG first place in Group A over Real Madrid, Club Brugge and Galatasaray.

Through much of the match, it seemed Navas would have a disappointing return to his former stadium. The Costa Rican goalkeeper was solid, but Karim Benzema took advantage of Real Madrid’s possession with a brace.

PSG discounted almost immediately following Benzema’s 79th-minute goal, which had put the Spanish side up 2-0. Kylian Mbappe benefited from Real Madrid’s poor defensive communication with an 81st-minute tap-in, and Pablo Sarabia beat Thibaut Courtois moments later with a top-corner strike.

Gareth Bale’s free kick in added time slammed into the post as PSG escaped with the draw.

Navas made 10 saves, including several impressive efforts in the first half to keep the match close against his former club.
