U.S. Ambassador inaugurates women in leadership projects

The Professional Women’s Network (PWN) will host its inaugural Women in Leadership Speakers Event with the first female U.S. ambassador to Costa Rica, Anne Slaughter Andrew, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Aurola Holiday Inn in downtown San José. Andrew will discuss the U.S. government’s role in promoting the economic empowerment of women in Costa Rica and her own professional development experience in areas of foreign policy, private consulting and law.

The event will launch a series of events including a leadership speaker’s series, professional development workshops, networking training and community outreach efforts to improve business opportunities for women in Costa Rica.

A new interest group of the Women’s Club of Costa Rica, which has been active for 70 years serving local communities, the PWN was developed specifically for working women of all nationalities to encourage personal and professional development through networking, and to develop programs to benefit all women in Costa Rica. The PWN is an English-speaking group; beginner-level English is welcome.
