A fine art and photography exhibit book signing was held Friday, Jan. 18, 4-8 p.m., at Marie’s Restaurant. Some of Guanacaste’s most talented people exhibited their art and photography, including Rebecca Alvarado, Vladimir Rocha and Zoraida Díaz. Nadine Hays Pisani signed copies of her book “Happier Than A Billionaire,” which tells the story of her move to Costa Rica, as well as the brand new sequel. 

At the Happy Snapper, Donnie “Mr. DownChild” Walsh played Friday with the Leatherbacks! Mo Ledezma from Blues Devils performed in 2010 at the Costa Rica Blues Fest in San José. He and his band were at Marie’s in Flamingo on Jan. 12 and at El Coconut Beach Club in Potrero on Jan. 13.

Maxwell’s Bar, Restaurant, and Café is open Sunday through Friday 8 a.m.-close every week, with karaoke on Tuesdays. For more information and specials, call 2654-4319 or 8871-7083. The NFL playoffs were watched throughout the beach areas at restaurants and sports bars.
