U.S. Women’s Soccer to play Ticas

From the print edition

The world’s top women’s soccer team has selected its first opponent following the Olympics – and it’s Costa Rica.

The top-ranked U.S. women’s soccer squad will play Costa Rica in Rochester, New York, on Sept. 1 in a friendly.

The U.S. squad plays its quarterfinals match Friday in London. Costa Rica’s women’s soccer team did not qualify for the Olympics. The U.S. lost in the World Cup final last year to Japan.
