UPeace Course Brings Nonprofit Training to Community

For Julia Delafield, the executive education experience at the University of Peace went beyond a learning activity. It was a chance to connect with people from all over the world.

“I have never been where classes were routinely composed of representatives from at least two or three different continents and a multitude of countries, with all students bringing their unique voices and points of view to each issue at hand,” she said.

“Where else does the newly appointed director of a nascent organization created to bring education to rural Costa Rica sit down between a student who most recently worked on solar lighting projects in Bolivia and the leader of an organization preserving indigenous culture amongst the new generation?”

The university, which offers a handful of executive education seminars throughout the year on topics such as education, sustainable business, ecotourism and corporate social responsibility, has opened enrollment for its Nonprofit Leadership class from Nov. 8 to Nov. 12. The course will be held at the university’s campus in Ciudad Colón, with presentations by Café Britt, Habitat for Humanity and InBio.
