The government plans to extend vehicular restriction hours to reduce fuel consumption in the country starting on May 2.
The announcement by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) was made Tuesday; restriction hours are not defined yet. MOPT said it is considering implementing vehicle restriction in the cities of Cartago, Heredia and Alajuela.
The schedule of vehicular restriction in San José goes from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The day a car is restricted depends on the license plate number.
Currently, the price per barrel for crude oil is at $108. MOPT said it will not raise prices again unless the price of crude oil reaches $150 per barrel.
