Costa Rica Set for Summer Friendly Against England in Orlando

Costa Rica will face England on June 10 in a high-profile international friendly at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. in Costa Rica and 4 p.m. local time. The match will close out La Sele’s June FIFA window and gives the national team one of its biggest tests of the year.

The game also lands in a strong setting for Costa Rica supporters in the United States. Inter&Co Stadium is a downtown Orlando soccer venue with a listed capacity of 25,500, which should give the match a tighter and louder feel than a larger NFL-style stadium. For a Costa Rica side looking for a meaningful summer stage, the Florida setting makes sense.

England is treating the Florida trip as the final stretch of its World Cup buildup. Thomas Tuchel’s team will play New Zealand in Tampa on June 6 and then meet Costa Rica in Orlando four days later before moving on to its tournament base in Kansas City. England opens its World Cup campaign on June 17 and has been drawn with Croatia, Ghana and Panama in Group L.

For Costa Rica coach Fernando Batista, the friendly offers more than a marquee opponent. It gives his squad a chance to measure itself against one of the sport’s biggest names and to do it in a match that should feel far more intense than a routine exhibition. Costa Rica’s federation has framed the game as part of Batista’s ongoing process with the national team, and as the final match of the June international window.

There is also some history here. England beat Costa Rica 2-0 in a June 2018 friendly, and the two teams played to a 0-0 draw at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. That makes the Orlando meeting a fresh chapter in a matchup that, while not frequent, has produced memorable stops along the way.

Ticket details are starting to take shape. England’s official supporters club opened registration this week and said general ticket sales are expected to begin April 16 through the event organizer. Costa Rica’s federation has also said that more information on ticket sales and will be released through official channels in the coming days.

For Costa Rica, this is the kind of summer friendly that carries real weight. The opponent is elite, the venue is close to a large Latin American fan base, and the occasion should bring far more attention than a typical June date. Even with England focused on the World Cup, Costa Rica will have a real chance to turn the afternoon in Orlando into a statement performance.
