Today, animal lovers, especially sloth lovers, rejoice! It is not only a very Slothy Sunday but also, International Sloth Day. The Toucan Rescue Ranch could not be more excited to celebrate this much-anticipated wildlife holiday with you!
After over a month of excitement, TRR is excited to share the 4th Annual Sloth Ironman Games Athlete Reveal! Renamed as ‘Slothletes’ for this extreme sports competition, the identities of the four sloths in this year’s games are revealed in the video below. Up until today, their identities have remained a secret!
The Sloth Ironman Games was created as a fun way to raise much-needed funds for our Saving Sloths Together (SST) Program with our partner, The Sloth Institute of Costa Rica. Together, we rescue, rehabilitate, and release orphaned, injured, or abandoned sloths back into the wild. The process from rescue to release takes about two years, and there are many costs associated with raising them to be healthy and strong enough to survive in their wild home!
Tune in this entire week for four days of sloth fun as we watch the 2019 slothletes compete in TRR’s four special enrichment challenges: the 1-Meter Dash, the Hibiscus Eat-Off, the Strong Sloth Challenge, and the Poop-Off. You can follow along via the TRR Facebook and Youtube to stay updated with the competition and place votes for your favorite Slothlete! We can’t wait to see who takes home the gold this year!

SLOTH IRONMAN GAME RULES:
- To earn your favorite sloth athlete points, you must make a minimum donation of $5.00
- $1.00 = 1 Point
- When donating for your athlete you must DEDICATE their name (i.e. Goldie) to be properly recorded to your slothlete.
SLOTH IRONMAN POINT SYSTEM:
Each dollar raised for a slothlete will be 1-point added to its score. $5.00 would be an additional 5-points to your favorite slothlete!
- 100-points for 1st place
- 75-points for 2nd place
- 50-points for 3rd pace
- 25 points for 4th place
- 0-points for disqualification
