Costa Rica Pic of the Day: Whitewater Rafting in Limón

Costa Rica hosted the first World White Water Rafting Summit this week, bringing together more than 250 participants from 25 nations.

Topics focused on improving safety in adventure sports and managing environmental risks inherent in whitewater rafting.

The summit was particularly timely for Costa Rica after five people died in a rafting accident on the Naranjito River in Quepos, Puntarenas a year ago.

The four-day event ended (how else?) with a massive navigation down the Pacuare River in Siquirres, Limón — pictured here during one of the calmer moments of the trip.
