Costa Rica’s National Stadium glows in the colors of the flag

Costa Rica celebrates its Independence Day on September 15. In the weeks leading up to the holiday, parks, buildings, and cars are adorned with the Costa Rican flag or the national colors of red, white and blue. The National Stadium in La Sabana joined in the preparation Wednesday night as it glowed in the patriotic hues.

The week prior to Independence Day is celebrated as Civic Week in schools across the country. Students learn Costa Rica history, enjoy typical foods and activities, and sing patriotic anthems.
