WATCH: Costa Rica football star Celso Borges’ hidden musical talent

Celso Borges, the star midfielder for the Costa Rican national team, is a man of many talents. Not only is the 27-year-old footballer good enough to play in Spain’s La Liga, arguably the world’s best league, he can also hold his own on a drum set.

Borges and Costa Rican singer Kurt Dyer recently released this YouTube video cover of “Toxicity,” by metal band System of a Down, where Borges is shown going wild on the drums:

According to a profile in Spanish-language daily La Nación last year, Borges started playing the drums when he was 15 years old, but always knew he wanted to be a professional football player in the world’s top divisions. In Spain, Borges plays for Deportivo La Coruña, which is currently ranked 9th in La Liga standings.

Borges flew back to Costa Rica on Sunday to rejoin the national team, as it returns to action Friday for World Cup qualifying play, opening up with regional foe Haiti at the National Stadium in San José. The Ticos will look to be one of four CONCACAF (the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) teams to make it to Russia in 2018 in an attempt to follow-up their historic success in Brazil last year.
