San Pedro roundabout closed at nights for repairs

The Public Works and Transport Ministry (MOPT) this week began repairing the La Hispanidad traffic circle in San Pedro, the main access point to the east of San José.

The road will be closed every night until Thursday, from 10 p.m.-5 a.m. MOPT said in a press release.

Repairs include the removal and replacement of old asphalt layers from the base of the road. Workers will also clean ditches and culverts.

MOPT officials recommended all drivers entering or leaving the eastern sector of San José at night to use alternate routes, such as the Circunvalación, a belt route around the capital.

Traffic Police officers will guard the area and guide traffic through the route prior to the closure each night. The closure applies only for the roundabout, while passage over the bridge will remain open.
