Heavy rains expected in most of country over next two days

Costa Rica will experience torrential rains Monday night and Tuesday, according to the National Meteorology Institute (IMN).

A mixture of humidity and high temperatures will cause intense rainfall that could continue for hours, said IMN meteorologist Rebeca Morera.

In addition to the rain, there is also a chance of lightning storms during the next couple of days.

Heavy rains are expected in the Central Valley, Pacific slope, Northern Zone and mountain sectors of the Caribbean. The remainder of the week will see afternoon rains with less intensity.
