Pig roast to celebrate Canada’s 144th birthday

This year’s Canada Day Party and Pig Roast is set for Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Zamora Estate in Santa Ana, southwest of San José.

There will be great food, swimming, beautiful ponds and trails, and a silent auction for the benefit of the school communities supported by the Canadian Charitable Association. Entertainment will be provided by the band Bedrock, led by Canadian singer Nancy Wallace, performing country, rock, blues and other favorites.

Tickets must be purchased in advance before June 22, and are available for $20 per person through the Association of Residents of Costa Rica in San José (2233-8068, Av. 4, Ca. 40) and Out of Bounds Hotel and Tourist Center in the western suburb of Escazú (2288-6762, Old Road to Santa Ana, across from Taj Mahal restaurant).

The menu will include pig roast, barbecue chicken, salads, bread, dessert, iced tea and coffee, with a cash bar. The Zamora Estate is 250 meters north of Bacchus restaurant in Santa Ana.

Everyone is welcome to join in and celebrate Canada’s 144th birthday.
