Gran Hotel Named Heritage Site

THE Gran Hotel Costa Rica wasnamed an historical and architectural heritagesite by the Ministry of Culture,Youth and Sports in a ceremony last week.The hotel, which first opened its doorsin October 1930, is located in downtownSan José near the Culture Plaza andfamous National Theater.The declaration will protect the buildingfrom demolition or any future renovationsthat could destroy the building’s historicalsignificance.At the ceremony, Gran Hotel presidentEric Gutiérrez said tourists should knowCosta Rica has more to offer than beaches,jungles and volcanoes.
