MARIO Quintana, one of thefounding members of the apparentlycorruption-riddled Social ChristianUnity Party (PUSC), took his own lifeWednesday afternoon around 5 p.m.with a .357 Magnum, according to theJudicial Investigative Police (OIJ).OIJ spokeswoman MargaritaMorales said Quintana was not beinginvestigated in connection with thegovernment corruption scandals linkedto former Costa Rican PresidentsMiguel Ángel Rodríguez (1998-2002)and Rafael Ángel Calderón (1990-94),both members of the ruling Unity Party.
