These terms apply to every classified ad placed through The Tico Times website. By submitting an ad, you agree to them.
Review before publication
Every ad is reviewed by our team before it goes live, usually within one business day. We may approve an ad, ask you to change it, or decline it. Your ad is published only after it is approved.
Refunds
If we decline your ad, we refund the full amount to the card you paid with. How quickly the refund appears depends on your bank. Once an ad is live, we do not refund unused time if you end it early, except when we removed it by mistake.
What we do not accept
We do not publish ads for adult or sexual content or services, escort or dating services, illegal goods or services, weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods, wild animals or protected species, gambling, pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes, or investments that promise guaranteed returns. We do not publish ads that are misleading, that discriminate against people in housing or employment, or that use text or photos you do not have the right to use. Job ads must be for real positions and may not charge applicants a fee.
Text and photos
Ads can include up to 2,500 characters of text and up to 8 photos. Photos must show what you are advertising and must be your own or used with permission. Do not put phone numbers, email addresses or website links inside photos. Put your contact details in the fields provided.
How long your ad runs
Your ad runs for the term you buy, starting on the day it is approved. We email you before it expires. To keep it running, place it again or contact us.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for the accuracy of your ad and for any transaction that results from it. You must have the right to sell, rent or offer what you advertise. The Tico Times does not verify listings and is not a party to any agreement between advertisers and readers.
Removal
We may remove any ad that breaks these terms, without a refund.
Prices
Prices are shown in US dollars and do not include IVA.
Your information
The contact details you enter in your ad are shown publicly with the ad. We use your email address to manage your ad and to send you notices about it.
