Strong winds expected this week

Gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour originating in the Caribbean will affect the northern region of Costa Rica, the province of Guanacaste and the Central Valley this week, according to forecasts by the National Meteorological Institute (IMN).

The IMN on Sunday registered winds of up to 50-65 kph in the Central Valley and 70-80 kph in Guanacaste and other high regions of the country.

Reports also indicate that very low humidity and a low concentration of cloud cover will keep most of Costa Rica dry and sunny in coming days.

Meteorologists warned that air travel could be difficult, due to turbulence caused by the strong gusts.
