Word From the Osa Peninsula

Today, the OsaPeninsula kicks off what may be the biggest event it has ever seen: Rainforest Aid 2009. The three-day festival of music, film, art, cultural events and ecological awareness is an all-out effort to raise funds and awareness for conservation and sustainable education, health and community projects in one of the world’s treasure troves of biodiversity.

Some of Costa Rica’s top performers, including Manuel Obregón, Igni Ferroque and Kingo Lovers, will be performing throughout the weekend, as well as international guests such as Mudcat, Raposo and more.

The festival site in Amapola, four kilometers south of La Palma in the northeastern part of the peninsula, is shared between various local farms and businesses.

Many community members and businesses have joined together with festival producers Nubia Sánchez, Michael Cranford and Good Time Charley Productions to act as hosts to neighbors and friends from Costa Rica and abroad, who will gather to support the rain forest and its protection and to celebrate the summer solstice with fine music and fun.

For more information on Rainforest Aid, to purchase tickets online and to learn about specific projects that will benefit from the festival, go to www.rainforestaid09.com.
