Daylight Saving Time Could Save Country Energy

Dear Tico Times:

I do not hear anyone mention the fact that a great deal of electricity could be saved if Costa Rica were to adopt year-round Daylight Saving Time. This would allow about an hour less use of lights both in the private and business sectors.

Think of all the accidents that could be prevented. There would be much less loss of life for commuters who must walk, ride a bike or motorcycle, enter and exit buses or drive along the nation’s narrow highways.

People would feel more safe leaving work during daylight, especially in parts of the inner cities. I know that many people try to resist change, but they will adapt and be better off in the long run. Please, Mr. President, consider this and enact by emergency decree!
