Construction Chamber Plans Eighth ExpoConstrucción

For the eighth year running, Expo-Construcción, to be held March 7-11 at the Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura in Cariari, west of San José, will offer plenty of tools, materials, financing information and other resources to those looking to build or remodel a home.

The fair is sponsored by the Costa Rican Construction Chamber and the organizers of Congrex Costa Rica. Evelyn Gómez, marketing director for the chamber, told The Tico Times the details of the event were still being finalized at press time, but organizers expect 15,000 visitors. Admission will be free Wednesday through Friday, when the fair will be open from 3 to 10 p.m. at the hotel’s convention center; on Saturday (when the fair will welcome visitors from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.), children under 12 and seniors will still enter for free, and other visitors will pay ¢1,500 (about $2.90).

Each entry serves as a ticket in a raffle intriguingly entitled “Extreme Remodeling,” though Gómez said the specifics are still under wraps.

Hundreds of area businesses presenting their wares, approximately 30 technical presentations, a refreshments area and a special area for businesses from abroad to display their wares – a feature inaugurated at last year’s fair – will be among the attractions.

From financing options presented by banking representatives, to finishings such as floors and accessories, to construction machinery, ExpoConstrucción offers something for everyone.

Parking will be available for ¢1,000 ($1.90) at the área de bonanza behind the hotel, where guards will watch over the cars while shuttles whisk visitors to the convention center.
