Breast Implants Enhance C.R. Exports

Though export growth slowed this year due to weather-related hits to agriculture, sales of medical devices to other countries grew.

Anchoring that growth were sales of breast implants by Allergan, a U.S.-based company with a factory in Heredia, north of San José.

Costa Rica was second only to Ireland in the sale of fake breasts to the United States.

Despite an ailing U.S. economy, demand for breast implants there appears to remain firm.
