Free Wheelchairs Available In Puntarenas Area

At least 1,000 free wheelchairs are being made available to needy residents of the Pacific cantons of Puntarenas, Miramar and Esparza, thanks to the nonprofit Do It Foundation.

The program, which is being run with the help of the Linda Vista-Marina Caldera project and the Tourism Chamber of Puerto Caldera, is simple: to receive a wheelchair, applicants fill out a form, turn it in, and then pick up a wheelchair at the Polideportivo center in El Roble, in the Pacific port city of Puntarenas, on June 17 at 8 a.m.

Anyone who needs a wheelchair qualifies for the program, said Indolesio Ordóñez, one of the event’s organizers.

For more info or to receive a form by fax, contact Ordóñez at 661-2222; Ronald Villalobos in El Roble at 663-1679; Luis Corella in Miramar at 639-7003; Álvaro Pérez in Esparza at 636-8045; or Vinko Lastro in Caldera at 360-1090.
