Metallica lead singer, rhythm guitarist and co-founder James Hetfield, right, and bassist Robert Trujillo magnetize a devoted audience of more than 20,000 last Sunday night at Ricardo Saprissa Stadium in Tibás, north of San José, as part of the iconic heavy metal band’s 2010 Death Magnetic world tour. Stirring a mesmeric accord between the band and the audience, the concert’s set list included the thrashing sound of “Creeping Death,” lightning licks from “Sad But True” and the eerie lyrics of “Fade to Black,” ending with the classic “Seek and Destroy” from the band’s 1983 debut album, “Kill ’Em All.”
