Próspero Fernández Highway Down 2 Lanes for Work

Two lanes of the Próspero Fernández highway were closed Sunday for road construction on the 3.5 kilometer stretch between La Sabana, on San José’s western edge, and El Cruce in the western suburb of Escazú.

The work, which involves removing old pavement using a process called rubblizing, is part of the long-awaited

Caldera Highway

project, according to the road construction company Autopistas del Sol.

The lanes will remain closed for at least three weeks, the daily La Nación reported.
