Heredia Hosts First Festival of Flowers

Heredia, the provincial capital north of San José also known as the “City of Flowers,” will host its first Festival of Flowers, a weeklong cultural celebration of more than 50 activities, starting Sunday.

Heredia’s Central Park, Casa de la Cultura and Anfiteatro del Fortín will host most of the activities, which include nights of poetry, theater and dance, puppet shows for children and workshops by the Costa Rican Red Cross and the Heredia Fire Department, said a statement from Universidad Nacional (UNA) in Heredia.

“The idea is for the Heredia community, and those who visit the city, to have an opportunity to get together and share,” said festival organizer Rónald Cole.
