Taiwan to Help Restore Old War Plane

Thanks to a donation from the government of Taiwan, an old dinosaur of a donated cargo plane that Costa Rica once used to transport personnel during emergency situations is expected to fly once again.

The airplane, known as the Caribou, was donated to Costa Rica in the early 1990s by the United States after it was used during the Vietnam War, but has been grounded for the past decade, according to the Public Security Ministry’s Aerial Section Director Oldemar Madrigal.

The 22-meter-long, 1962 C-7A is worth $1 million, can fit 30 people and can take off on runways as short as 600 meters.
